Who am I? It’s a simple question, yet one of the hardest to answer. Not because we don’t know ourselves, but because we are always changing.

Think about it, are you the same person you were a year ago? A month ago? Even yesterday?
Maybe you’ve learned something that shifted your perspective.
Maybe you’ve made a mistake that taught you a valuable lesson.
Maybe you’ve let go of something or someone that no longer serves you.
If life is constantly shaping us, are we ever truly the same?
Or are we in a continuous process of becoming?

Most of us believe we are a single, unchanging identity, that who we were yesterday is who we must always be. But that’s not how life works.

We are fluid, evolving, growing, even when we don’t realize it.
Every challenge changes us.
Every experience shapes us.
Every decision redefines us.
If we were meant to stay the same, how could we grow? How could we become wiser, stronger, or more self-aware?
Yet, so many people hold onto outdated versions of themselves, versions shaped by past mistakes, fears, or limiting beliefs. We tell ourselves:
We often tell ourselves things like, ‘I’ve always been this way’ or ‘This is just who I am,’
but behind these words, there are many different meanings and beliefs that can hold us back.

The Real Question: Who Am I Becoming?
You are not just a collection of past experiences. You are also the choices you make today and the possibilities you create for tomorrow.
So when you reflect on yourself, don’t just look at where you’ve been, look at where you’re going.
– Are you learning from your mistakes?
– Are you challenging the beliefs that no longer serve you?
– Are you becoming a version of yourself that you respect and admire?
If so, then no, you are not the same person you were yesterday.
Maybe you love who you are and don’t feel the need to change, that’s okay too. What matters is that you are at peace with yourself, aware of your journey, and not living in denial.
Accepting that you are a work in progress, always learning, always growing, always transforming and knowing that you are not just your past or your present, but everything you have the potential to become, is a meaningful and eye-opening realization.

“Who you were yesterday does not define who you are today, and it certainly doesn’t limit who you can become. But change only happens when you take action, when you choose to evolve, step by step, and make decisions that guide you toward the person you’re becoming.”
